3rd annual Chili Cook Off – Sat 2.24.24

Settle Down Easy Brewing will host their 3rd annual chili cook-off on Saturday Feb 24th.  A beloved community event, draws participants and spectators alike to celebrate the artistry of crafting the perfect bowl of chili. Held in the taproom, the event transforms the atmosphere with the tantalizing aroma of simmering spices and the spirited chatter of excited attendees.

As contestants set up their tables from 11:30 – 12 noon, doors open at 12 noon.   A kaleidoscope of spicy smells emerges, showcasing an array of ingredients that range from the traditional to the unconventional. From classic beef and bean concoctions to vegetarian and even vegan renditions, the diversity of chili recipes on display mirrors the creativity and ingenuity of the participants.

Judges, 2 special VIP judges, take their places at the judging table, ready to evaluate each entry based on criteria such as flavor, aroma, texture, and overall presentation. The tension in the air is palpable as contestants anxiously await the verdict, hoping that their unique blend of spices and secret ingredients will win over the discerning taste buds of the panel.

Spectators are allowed to try all the different chilis and cast a vote on who is the BEST.., armed with tasting spoons and voting coin, weave through the maze of chili tables, sampling chili after chili and casting their votes for the coveted People’s Choice Award. The competition is fierce, with each participant vying for the title of “Chili Champion” and the bragging rights that come with it.

Beyond the fierce rivalry, the chili cook-off fosters a sense of community and camaraderie. Families gather, friends reunite, and neighbors engage in friendly banter as they savor the diverse chili offerings.  There is nothing like a cold craft beer and chili!

In the end, as winners are announced and trophies awarded, the chili cook-off leaves a lasting impression, not just for the culinary delights sampled but for the sense of community and celebration that permeates the event. It becomes more than a competition; it becomes a tradition that brings people together to savor the warmth and spice of both chili and community spirit.

Cooks arrive 11:30 – 12noon
Doors open at 12noon
Tasting begins at 12:30 – 2pm
Each taster will receive a single poker chip to cast their favorite chili vote

At 2:30pm the celebrity judges will cast the final vote

First Place: $100 gift card
Second Place: $50 gift card
