National Dumpling Day – Thursday September 26

Settle Down Easy Brewing, in proud partnership with Uncle Ping’s Street Food, will celebrate National Dumpling Day on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at our Falls Church Brewery! This delightful occasion honors one of the world’s most beloved and versatile comfort foods: the dumpling. Dumplings are small parcels of dough that can be filled with various ingredients, ranging from meats and vegetables to sweet fillings like fruit or chocolate. They are a culinary staple in many cultures, with each region adding its unique twist to the basic concept.

Dumplings’ origins are ancient and widespread, with the earliest records dating back to China’s Eastern Han Dynasty (206 BC—220 AD). Since then, dumplings have traveled across continents and cultures, evolving into various forms like Chinese jiaozi, Japanese gyoza, Italian ravioli, and Polish pierogi. Each type of dumpling reflects the local ingredients, traditions, and tastes of the region from which it originates.

Settle Down Easy Brewing is proud to support National Dumpling Day, an opportunity to explore and appreciate the global diversity of dumplings. This day encourages people to try making dumplings at home, attend dumpling festivals, or visit restaurants specializing in different types of dumplings. This day also fosters a sense of cultural appreciation; we will support Taiwanese Heritage for our Event!
